Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran collaborates with Cradle of Filth on a new track.

Sheeran, 31, has previously said he was a fan of the band and the genre, being “really into death metal as a kid”.

In an interview with knotfestfrontman Dani Filth has revealed that the band are working with the Shape of You singer who has already “done some” of the track.

Filth, 49, explained that the song is still in the works.

He said: “We haven’t finished our song with Ed Sheeran yet.

“He did some of that, but then he had a baby, and then he obviously turned away from that and did everything that Ed does, which is play massive shows around the world .”

Filth added: “He is not entirely at our disposal. But he will finish it, he assures me. In fact, I spoke to him fairly recently.

The leader also shared that there is no deadline or set date yet for the release of the new track, saying “It will be released when it is finished.”

The idea for the collaboration was born last year when Sheeran mentioned hopes of one day writing a heavy metal album after growing up on the music of Cradle of Filth and Slipknot.

The Bad Habits singer’s comment led Filth to respond on Instagram, “I’ll believe it when I see it,” leading to email communications between the two after the exchange.

The upcoming track won’t be Sheeran’s first attempt at a heavy metal collaboration, having worked with Bring Me The Horizon on a metalcore version of Bad Habits and joining them on the Reading Festival stage last week to perform the reworked piece.
